How Mindset Builds The Foundation For Personal and Professional Success - A Look Through Shane Quigley's Lens

Your mindset drives you through the twists and turns of life. The right mindset isn’t just about staying positive; it’s about seeing problems as stepping stones to progress. Shane Quigley‘s journey is an example of this.

Shane, an entrepreneur and leader in digital marketing and e-commerce, began his career as a McDonald’s worker. Later, he co-founded Epiphany, his first marketing agency, skillfully steering it through challenges. In 2012, he took the brand international and, in 2014, sold it to Jaywing PLC for £18 million.

Post-Epiphany, Shane ventured into multiple successful endeavors, including the launch of an online furniture retailer, Earth, sold to Matalan in 2016. He founded SHIFT Commerce, a SaaS e-commerce platform generating over £30 million in revenue before selling the IP in 2023.

From these experiences, Shane kept maturing both professionally and personally until he co-founded SHIFT Marketplace in 2019. SHIFT, the UK market leader for Amazon’s expertise, now exemplifies Shane’s wisdom towards contemporary e-commerce.

“In the high-stakes game of business, where the only constant is change, adopting a growth mindset is so beneficial – it’s almost essential. It fosters a culture of resilience and innovation, where taking calculated risks and learning from outcomes becomes the norm,” Shane said in one of his LinkedIn posts.

Let us look at some mindset life lessons by Shane for achieving individual and career success.

Adversity as Stepping Stones:

Positivity empowers people to turn challenges into opportunities. It gives you the courage and helps you build problem-solving skills for a victorious life journey.

This mindset helped Shane in the global financial crisis when his agency took a hit with a sudden decline in clients from the financial sector. Shane and his partner, Robin Skidmore, showcased flexibility and resilience. Their response not only helped them navigate tough times but also broadened their client base.

Contentment to Enlighten Success Path:

When success is the goal, there is no place for jealousy. This perspective fosters collaboration, networking, and a supportive environment, which is crucial in achieving personal and professional goals. Shane’s approach was the same.

Positive Perspective Over Limiting Beliefs:

Limiting beliefs are barriers that inhibit success. Acknowledging negative thoughts, reframing them, and adopting a positive attitude makes room for new possibilities.

When Shane faced doubters, instead of giving in, he grabbed a tech support job that caught his eye. The employer promised him Microsoft Certifications after two years of employment. But he pitched a self-study plan, taking the exam sooner. In just three months, he earned the certifications and clinched a promotion, marking himself as the youngest senior in the company.

Smart Work over Hard Work:

People of such a nature focus on efficiency, innovation, and strategizing.

“If you’re just starting, find your strength and apply it where it matters most. Marketing, sales, product development, customer experience – excel in your area and collaborate with those who complement your skills,” Shane emphasized.

Shane’s journey teaches how mindset can contribute to continuous growth and learning. He shares many insightful posts on LinkedIn that highlight important lessons, such as what a growth mindset is, how to deal with limiting beliefs, and the path toward entrepreneurial success. He inspires others to embrace challenges and cultivate a mindset that fosters personal and professional development.
