First Topless Cannabis Dispensary Could Soon Open In Massachusetts, Strip Club Owners Have A Plan

Two co-owners of a Massachusetts strip club are working on reopening and changing the game a bit. Nick Spagnola and Julius Sokol told the Select Board last week about their plan to open a topless cannabis dispensary.

“We’re leaning toward cannabis with a twist. … There are a lot of dispensaries open and you need a niche to be successful,” Spagnola said, reported the Daily Hampshire Gazette. “Castaways as a strip club would be no more.”

The Club Castaway, the only strip club in Frankly County, was shut down as part of March 2020 pandemic measures. It is expected to reopen in the next couple of months.

Bye Bye To Alcohol & Dancing But Nudity Stays

Spagnola and Sokol’s plan is to buy Shine Diamond LLC, a cannabis dispensary at 85 State Road. Sokol, who already has cannabis licenses for dispensaries in eastern MA, and Spagnola plan to amend their adult entertainment license to keep the nudity and remove dancing and alcohol.

“We do have some experience on the cannabis side and some on the nudity side,” Spagnola said. “We want to replace this nightclub scene and alcohol with something that is harmless in comparison.”

Who will be naked?

According to Spagnola, they never had a hard time finding workers, and they “have a good track record” with the town.

“It may surprise you, we’ve never had a shortage of employees who wanted to work at Castaways,” Spagnola said, “We’re confident we could create a protocol for a safe working environment.”
