Bill Michael joins regtech firm Novatus Global

FintechBill Michael joins regtech firm Novatus Global

Novatus Global, the risk and regulation consultancy and technology solution provider, is pleased to announce the appointment of Bill Michael as Head of Strategy and member of the Board.

Bill brings over 35 years of unparalleled experience in financial services across capital markets, corporate banking and regulation as well as extensive advisory expertise. Bill joins to help the firm accelerate its international expansion and continue to deliver excellent tailored advice and effective RegTech solutions to its financial services clients.

Prior to joining Novatus Global, Bill was UK Chairman at KPMG and previously held roles including UK Head of Financial Services and Global Head of Banking and Capital Markets at the firm.

Since 2021, Bill has taken on several strategic advisory roles with specialist management consulting firms including challenger consultancy Elixirr, and numerous other fast-growing businesses in the financial sector.

This appointment follows the 2022 investment from venture capital investor Maven Capital Partners, to help Novatus Global capitalise on growth opportunities within the RegTech market and accelerate its growth. The business operates in a fast-expanding market with compelling growth drivers as financial services organisations become subject to ever-increasing and more complex regulatory obligations.

Over the past twelve months, the firm has continued to expand its international footprint by signing its first client, a leading superannuation fund, in Australia. An Australian native, Bill will use his extensive contacts to bolster Novatus’ presence in the region where its flagship RegTech product – the Novatus Transaction Reporting Assurance platform – will help firms affected by the removal of the ASIC safe harbour provision.

Andrew Hedley, Partner and co-founder of Novatus Global, said: “We are delighted that Bill is joining our senior team at such an exciting time for the business. His unparalleled consulting experience in the global financial services sector combined with his entrepreneurial mindset will be invaluable as we enter our next phase of growth.”

Matthew Ranson, Partner and co-founder of Novatus Global, added: “The demand for our services and solutions continues to grow rapidly within a global market estimated at circa £20bn per annum. We are delighted that Bill joins us at this pivotal moment as we continue to work on achieving scale across both the advisory and RegTech divisions of our business. Bill’s in-depth knowledge and practical experience of the financial services industry will enable us to continue to innovate as we identify where technology can improve day-to-day operations and ensure clients remain compliant with global regulations.”

Bill Michael, Head of Strategy, commented: “I am very impressed by what Novatus Global has been able to achieve to date for its financial services clients and by its relentless focus on solving complex problems for the end-user. I’m very much looking forward to bringing my solutions experience to the team and being part of such an innovative and dynamic organisation as the business continues to extend its global reach.”
